Pancreatic Cancer Prognosis using PrognostiCheck®

Pancreatic cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths in the USA.

Early detection and correct prognosis of serious illness is critical – and are paramount to improving patient survival rates because when treatment can begin sooner the effectiveness of that treatment is better.

PrognostiCheck® is a scoring system based upon an electrical measurement of cell membranes of a patient. The study illustrates the cell-wall membrane of the cell by measuring its ability to act as a capacitor and the time it holds the signal. These values are indicative of the health of the patient.

Phase Angle – An Independent Predictive Health Marker and its Clinical Applications

Phase Angle Technique is an independent clinical tool besides being a good and practical in-vivo method for estimation of human body composition.

Here is an abstract from the Book Series IFMBE Proceedings, which provides an overview of Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis(BIA) Phase Angle and its merits over other body.

Body composition analysis is used in preventative, therapeutic, and research applications such as nutritional assessment, anti-aging therapy, physical performance assessment, weight management, obesity, fluid and nutritional assessment etc. Based on these developments, current and future clinical applications and directions of BIA research are discussed.

Phase Angle illustrates changes that occur prior to those evidenced by cell counts, physical signs, biochemical assays and imaging techniques. Hence, its value clearly complements the disease management process, providing the physician with valuable information sooner.

Phase angle determined by PrognostiCheck® detects changes in tissue electrical properties and is a reliable and objective prognostic indicator in several chronic conditions

Mesothelioma Prognosis

November 20th, 2009 | 3 Comments | Posted in Measure Prognosis, Prognosis, PrognostiCheck(R)

Mesothelioma is a form of Cancer that most frequently arises from the cells lining the sacs of the chest (the pleura) or the abdomen (the peritoneum) and almost always caused by exposure to asbestos.

The prognosis for this disease often depends on how early it is diagnosed and how aggressively it is treated.

Measure Prognosis with PrognostiCheck®

November 4th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Measure Prognosis, Prognosis, PrognostiCheck(R)

A prognosis gives an idea of the likely course or outcome of a disease, it’s recovery, path or recurrence.

Based upon how far the disease has progressed and how severely it has affected the patient’s body functions the prognosis can vary greatly. Caught late the prognosis may be poor and transplant the only option. Early discovery of live disease generally improves the prognosis.
